Please consider volunteering to help Rhys Compton's Eagle Scout Service Project next week.  He is short on volunteers.  REGISTERATION LOCATION:  on the upper right side of the EBlast and troop website ("Event Registration" section). 

Eagle Projects are not just a requirement for Eagle Scout candidates to demonstrate leadership on a large project.  These are also service projects that our troop assists to benefit our community.  In this case, this service project befits his church in Burke that needs a parking lot access path.

Scouts that want to become Eagle Scouts in the future will need help from their fellow Scouts in the troop.  Helping out now is a way for future Eagle Scout candidates to "pay it forward" with a down payment.  In a way this repays for the help they will need in the future.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) officially changed its name to "Scouting America" (SA) on February 8, the organization's 115th anniversary.  The name change better reflects the current organization that consists of:

1.  Cub Scouts (K-5)   [ girls joined in 2018 with all-girl DENS under mixed-packs or all-girl PACKS ]

2.  Scouts BSA (11-17)   [ girls joined in in 2019 with all-girl TROOPS ]

___*  "Scouts BSA" was formerly known as "Boy Scouts" until 2018

3.  Venturing (14-20)   [ girls have always been welcome in mixed-gender CREWS ]

This year's 115th anniversary will lead into Troop 1344's 20th anniversary on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025.  We will announce details of our 20th commemoration efforts this summer.
