The June 2 troop meeting is the LAST DAY PRIOR prior to the June Court of Honor to advance in rank. Please sign-up ASAP well in advance so we know how many we need to conduct (may require additional time on the same night before or after the troop meeting)
SM CONF. Scouts who are are ready for a Scoutmaster Conference (SM Conf) can request to schedule one for June 2 using this website registration (explain in the notes your request). [ LINK ]
BOR. Scouts who have completed a SM Conf prior to this date can request to schedule a Board on Review (BOR) for June 2 using this same registration (explain in the notes your request).
SAME DAY SM CONF AND BOR: By exception, we will attempt to accommodate requests to do this on Jun 2 if we have enough time and Committee members who can support these. Please sign-up ASAP well in advance so we can plan this day or arrange an alternate date.
See the Troop Handbook chapter on Rank Advancement for the procedures for a SM Conf and BOR. Available time usually limits the opportunities to 3x of each per day or less. [ DETAILS BELOW ]
If you are going to Camp Rodney, then you most likely have prerequisites for one or more merit badges to complete prior to arrival. (This does not apply to new Scouts, who will be in the Brownsea program). The attached spreadsheet lists all the MBs that each Scout is registered for.
1. Please take a look immediately. Some requirements will take time and planning. Note that green items indicate that the MB will only be partial and the green requirements will need to be completed after camp.
2. Please read the specific catalog entry for each MB. Many of them have more details such as specific equipment to bring or online resources for obtaining required certifications.
3. Present your prerequisites to an ASM at a troop meeting for verification. If possible, it should be an ASM who is a counselor for the MB. In particular, shooting MB prerequisites should be reviewed by ASM Brown. Motorboating MB prerequisites by ASM Spans.
4. After approval, notify Mr. Ridgway so he can complete your pre-camp paperwork. If your paperwork is not complete, you won't get a completed MB at the end of camp.
If you have any questions, contact the Merit Badge Coordinator, Mr. Ridgway, at a troop meeting or at james.d.ridgway@gmail.com
