WHO WE ARE

  • ABOUT US SLIDE SHOW (2023-2024):  link ]

We are a medium size troop in Burke, VA focusing on personal growth, leadership development, citizenship training, community service, and character building for our Scouts.

We have a strong group of Scouts supported by an energetic and engaged team of adult leaders and parents, many of whom are active or former military and Federal service. Our troop regularly earns the highest recognition for Boy Scout troop quality and District recognition for outstanding Scout and adult leaders.

Troop 1344 was chartered in the Patriot District of the National Capital Area Council on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2005, and is sponsored by the American Legion Post 176 in Springfield, Virginia.

We meet Monday nights 7 PM at Cherry Run Elementary School (occasionally at Burke United Methodist Church).

Mulch Spreading Fundraiser Earned Record $4,700+ Over 3 Days

Posted on Apr 8 2024 - 10:16am

Thanks to the parents and Scouts who volunteered their time and effort to help Troop1344’s annual fundraiser spreading mulch (March 17, April 6-7).

We set another fundraising record earning more than $4,700 (2023 $4,000  ||  2022 $3,000  ||  2021 $3,000  ||  2020 and prior $2,000 average).  Overall, $4,750, 992 bags, $4.79/bag.

50% of the money goes to the troop general fund paying for upgrades / repairs / replacements needed on T1344 camping gear / equipment / supplies, specialized adult leader training (e.g. Wilderness First Aid, CPR, BSA leadership), and special group requirements.  $2.375 this year goes to the troop.

The other 50% goes directly to the Scout Account for those Scouts who volunteered.  This money can pay for summer camps, high adventure expeditions, Eagle Scout projects, and other individual Scouting fees, giving each Scout a sense of accomplishment working to pay for their own activities.  Each family can directly contact Treasurer Tim Davis to claim their Scout Account funds.

Top Earners ($150 And More) Congratulations Special congratulations goes to these hard working Scouts:
• Rhys Compton
• Carter Davis
