Troop 1344 Mission

Hello everyone and thank you for considering Troop 1344.

We are a medium size, military family friendly Troop of 25-30 boys in Burke, VA.  Many of our parents and all of our uniformed adult leaders come from a military or government service background.

We draw from our experiences as leaders serving our nation to help instill these same values to our boys here in beautiful Northern Virginia.

We instill values of citizenship, leadership, personal fitness and spirituality in an outdoor leadership laboratory that lets these young men grow and support each other in a safe, fun environment.

We are fully compliant with all state and BSA requirements and fully operational in this challenging COVID-19 environment.

  • E-MAIL ACCESS PROTECTION: Only e-mail addresses of registered members of Troop 1344 will be able to use Troop 1344 e-mail group addresses (in other words, outsiders CANNOT spam you)
  • ADULT / SCOUT COMMUNICATIONS:  In compliance with BSA requirements, TWO ADULTS must be on every email communication with a Scout.
  • CONDUCT:  All persons must abide by our Privacy Policy and BSA standards of conduct on this website.

A Scout is Helpful and Thrifty! // Fundraiser Assistance Request

PARENTS:  As you know, the pandemic has hit scouting hard, both nationally and locally.  The loss of summer camps meant the loss of most of the Council’s annual income, while the loss of our troop mulch fundraiser meant the troop didn’t generate any income, either.  Meanwhile, the annual re-charter fee is slated to increase this year as well.  This means we will likely have to increase annual dues in the fall.  In addition to the annual re-charter fees, the troop income goes to purchasing rank and merit badges, T-shirts and neckerchiefs, and repairing and replacing the troop equipment, such as tents, stoves, lantern, fuel, and other essentials.
To help offset the dues increase, and to generate more income for scouting nationally and locally, we are asking your scouts to sell popcorn online.  THIS IS THE EASIEST FUNDRAISER YOU WILL EVER SUPPORT!!   Directions are in the slides attached—each scout can download the Trails End app onto his phone, register, associate the account with National Capital Area Council | Patriot District | Troop 1344, and the troop will get a portion of the proceeds.  Each scout can personalize his own “storefront” and send email from the app to family and friends.  Anyone who receives the email will be directed to the Trail’s End website, where they can make their selections.  We don’t enter any other info, and the order is shipped directly to the purchaser.  And the Council and Trails End frequently run shipping discounts, so watch for those and make sure your friends and family know about them.
